The lower stretch of the Besòs River, before reaching the Mediterranean Sea, flows through urban areas home to almost one million people in three districts of Barcelona and the towns of Santa Coloma, Santa Adrià, Montcada and Badalona. Through collaboration between the cities and shared leadership, the Plan’s aim is to transform the Besòs Axis into a metropolitan hub, giving priority to issues such as city planning, combating inequality, promoting the economy and restructuring industry, protecting the environment and improving infrastructures and services in the area.
L’Estrella is a strategically placed residential area of approximately 39,000 m2 with the possibility of building a total of 339 apartments. 40% of the space created is intended for green spaces and new facilities for the city. The sector is adjacent to the C-31, which connects Badalona to central Barcelona in less than 20 minutes.
The municipality of Badalona has nowadays available the largest land reserve nearest to Barcelona city centre, on the seafront and with excellent transport network communications. The area consists of 90 hectares of industrial land currently under development. The economic and urban transformation that is being planned in this area aims to: Attract companies linked to technological sectors and launch programs to foster the competitiveness of existing companies; Integrate the urban planning area of the economic district with that of the city itself; Lead the energy transition of the district; And start a social transformation program in the surrounding neighbourhoods by aligning professional training with the business demand of the industrial parks.
Sant Adria de Besòs, located in the metropolitan area of Barcelona near the mouth of the River Besòs, has a population of approximately 35,000 and a pronounced industrial character.
